Scout Report

Manager Situation

  • Ange Postecoglou appointed just days before the fixture
  • Replacing Nuno Espirito Santo despite seventh-place finish last season
  • Known for attacking, high-intensity football from his Spurs days
  • Promises exciting football but admits it will take time to implement

Recent Form & Away Record

  • Won, drawn and lost their opening three Premier League games
  • Unbeaten in last four Premier League away games (all in London)
  • Never won at Emirates Stadium
  • Haven't beaten Arsenal in north London since 1989
  • Lost 3-0 to West Ham in Nuno's final game

Key Summer Signings

  • Omari Hutchinson (ex-Arsenal) - £37.5m club record signing
  • Dan Ndoye from Bologna - £34m Swiss forward
  • James McAtee from Manchester City
  • Arnaud Kalimuendo from Lens
  • Douglas Luiz and Zinchenko on loan

Tactical Setup

  • Expected 4-2-3-1 formation under Postecoglou
  • Averaged 57% possession in opening three games
  • Only Chelsea and Man City made more successful passes
  • Scored most goals from set pieces last season
  • Made most passes ending in final third this season (471)

Key Players to Watch

  • Dan Ndoye - Scored and assisted already, dangerous on right flank
  • Morgan Gibbs-White - Creative hub, excellent eye for killer passes
  • Callum Hudson-Odoi - Pace and trickery on the flanks
  • Elliott Anderson - Key to feeding passes into Gibbs-White
  • Chris Wood - Physical presence up front, yet to score at Emirates

Defensive Concerns

  • Only three teams faced more shots on target than Forest
  • Haven't found harmony in off-the-ball work yet
  • Postecoglou's high line could create uncertainty
  • Gone 11 games without a clean sheet (joint-second worst)

My View

Last week i was fuuuuuming. But now i have had almost 2 weeks to digest, its not the end of the world. We did extremely well to nullify Liverpool at Anfield and limit them to a wonder goal from 35+ yards out. Considering we have lost Saliba, Saka, Havertz, White and a half fit Odegaard im so confident with our depth and feel Arteta has everything he needs now to win. Isak signing is frustrating but we need to focus on ourselves. Ange bounce? i don't see it, i think we will deal with Forrest. Arsenal 4-1 Forrest. COYG

Liverpool Vs Arsenal

3 Things We Learned From The Game

  1. Early substitutions needed - Arteta's reluctance to make proactive changes until the 70th minute cost Arsenal, especially when Liverpool began dominating the second half.
  2. First Half tactics sSpot On - First half they had no answers but they managed to adjust tactics by leaving Martinelli free and occupying Calafiori.
  3. Lost To a moment of magic - We had more touches in their box, more shots etc but at the end we lost to a moment of magic which isn't the end of the world.
