Scout Report

Current Form & Context

  • Spurs sit fifth in the table under Thomas Frank's management after finishing 17th last season
  • They're the only Premier League side still unbeaten away from home this campaign
  • Joint-most points (13), joint-most goals (12) and fewest conceded (3) on the road

Tactical Setup

  • Frank alternates between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, recently favouring the latter to accommodate Xavi Simons at number 10
  • Both full-backs push forward aggressively while the central midfield pair sit deep to protect
  • Committed a league high 14 errors leading to shots (three resulting in goals)
  • Long pass ratio has increased from 7.3% to 10.7% under Frank, indicating a clear tactical shift
  • Mohammed Kudus in superb form down the right - only he (15) and Pedro Porro (13) have created more than six chances from open play

Key Players

  • Mohammed Kudus - Expected to return after missing two games with a knock, their main creative threat
  • Pape Sarr - Available after injury scare in Brazil vs Senegal match
  • Micky van de Ven - Scored more goals (6) than any other centre-back in Europe's top five leagues this season
  • Pedro Porro - Provides width and creativity from right-back

Injury Concerns

  • Dominic Solanke - Not ready (ankle injury)
  • Dejan Kulusevski - Sidelined with knee problem
  • Yves Bissouma - Out with ankle injury
  • James Maddison - Unavailable due to knee issue
  • Radu Dragusin - Back in training after ACL tear but unlikely to start
  • Kolo Muani - Available to play with protective mask (jaw injury)

Defensive Vulnerabilities

  • Creativity sacrificed for defensive solidity under Frank
  • Central midfield often sits too deep, leaving gaps between lines
  • Prone to errors under sustained pressure
  • Struggle to control games when opponents press high

What to Exploit

  • Defensive errors are a consistent issue (14 leading to shots)
  • Can be exposed when forced to defend deep and compact
  • Set-piece defending has been solid (only 2 conceded) but Arsenal lead the league with 10 set-piece goals

My View

Win today and against next Chelsea and I think we win the league. Today is huge, I feel like I say this every week but we have been renowned for not capitalising when our competitors drop points. Against Sunderland we failed in the last minute and we cant do this again. A win today can take the wind out of our City and put us firmly in the driving seat. For me, Liverpool are out of the race if we win, i cant see them catching up after yesterdays performance.
Gabriel injury was a huge frustration. Considering he was on a individual training plan and they still persisted to start him in a friendly is annoying. We need to start pulling our players out earlier. We shouldnt be taking any unecessary risks for friendlies!!!!
