PSG Vs Arsenal

Scout Report

PSG v Arsenal: Champions League Final Preview

  • A win would make Arsenal European champions for the first time in the club’s history.
  • The match takes place at the Puskas Stadium in Budapest.
  • Arsenal are unbeaten in all 14 of their Champions League matches this season.
  • PSG are the holders and are aiming to defend the trophy, something only Real Madrid have done in the Champions League era.
  • This is also a revenge opportunity for Arsenal after PSG knocked them out in last season’s semi-final.

PSG’s Threat

  • They struggled in the league phase but came alive in the knockouts.
  • They beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich on their way to the final.
  • Their attack has been devastating, scoring 44 goals in the competition.
  • Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is their danger man, with 7 goals and 3 assists in the knockout phase.
  • PSG are also dangerous in transition, especially after winning the ball high up the pitch.

Arsenal Team News

  • Jurrien Timber is back
  • Ben White will miss the final with a knee injury.
  • Mikel Merino returned against Crystal Palace, which gives Arsenal a timely boost.
  • Noni Madueke’s injury concern is not thought to be serious.

PSG Team News

  • Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes are both fit after injury concerns.
  • Ousmane Dembele has also declared himself fully fit.
  • PSG are expected to have a fully fit squad available.

Tactical Battle

  • PSG play with freedom, rotation and overloads from a 4-3-3 shape.
  • Their full-backs often move into dangerous attacking areas.
  • Arsenal will need to be careful in possession because PSG can punish mistakes quickly.
  • Right-back will be a key area, especially against Kvaratskhelia.
  • William Saliba’s covering role could be crucial.
  • Set pieces could be massive, especially because PSG are not the biggest side physically.
  • Arsenal’s pressing could also be important, as PSG have made several errors leading to shots this season.

Key Stats

  • Arsenal have won 11 Champions League games this season.
  • David Raya has kept 9 clean sheets in the competition.
  • No goalkeeper has ever kept 10 clean sheets in a single Champions League campaign.
  • Bukayo Saka has 8 goal involvements in 6 Champions League games against French opposition.
  • Arsenal could become the 25th team to win the European Cup.
  • They could also become the seventh English club to lift the trophy.
  • This will be the first major European final between an English and French club.

My View

If there is a team in Europe that can nullify PSG, it's us. This is the most confident I've been, and I think winning the Premier League against Pep's city is going to give all the confidence in the world to these players. Had we not won the league, all the pressure would have been on today, but IMO all pressure is off.
We're not the favourites, and I feel like we play better in those kinds of circumstances.
Initially, I thought we should go guns blazing, play our own football, stop worrying about the opposition, but after watching Arteta's interview previously around "Can we score 100 goals to win the Premier League?" and the answer was no, I almost feel the same way about PSG. Can we really outscore them? In my opinion, we can't. Bayern Munich tried to do that, and they paid the price, so I feel like an aggressive press with a mid-block would give us the best chances.
Try to keep the score as low as possible. Last time we played them, we conceded goals early on. I feel like the longer the game goes on 0-0, the better chance that we have to win it.
Let's stink out the place and bring the Champions League home.
Danger Man: Hakimi is my worry. He shows up in dangerous areas and can score from anywhere.
I will be at a parade tomorrow regardless. Come on you Gunners!
My prediction: 1-1, then PSG 1-2 Arsenal in extra time. Set Piece OLE
