Scout Report

Current Form & Position

  • Burnley sit 16th with 10 points from 9 games
  • Seven of their 10 points earned at home this season
  • Won back-to-back Premier League games for first time since April 2022
  • Beat Wolves 3-2 with 95th-minute winner from Lyle Foster last weekend

Defensive Setup

  • Expected to line up in pragmatic 5-4-1 formation under Scott Parker
  • Conceded just twice in four home games this season
  • Only one home goal conceded from open play
  • Strong defensive record despite facing league-high 165 shots

Key Threats

  • Jaiden Anthony - Top scorer operating on the left wing in confident form
  • Quilindschy Hartman - Former Feyenoord left-back with four assists including two against Wolves
  • Clinical finishing - 16.9% conversion rate (second-best in league) from limited chances

Tactical Approach

  • Average just 35% possession (dropped to 19% vs Liverpool, 31% vs City)
  • Apply intense pressure to man on ball in middle third
  • Look to exploit left flank through Anthony-Hartman combination
  • Scored in 9 of last 10 games across all competitions

Weaknesses to Exploit

  • Vulnerable to quick passing and sharp movement
  • Expected goals against (18.56) much higher than actual goals conceded (12)
  • Struggle when teams carry ball with purpose through their defensive shape

My View

What a month of football. So many successful hate watches, cant even remember the last goal we conceded! maybe the Newcastle game? Watching Liverpool fall from grace has been a spectacle and much needed reminder that they are human. Arteta has impressed me a lot this season, it seems every sub he has made this season has worked. We rotated 10 players to a very difficult prem team and managed to win without conceding again. Kepa looking like a great No.2 and we have pulled further away from our rivals, happy days! We need to keep this momentum up because our competition will start winning games again so we need a healthy buffer for when we have a dip in form. COYG

Arsenal Vs Brighton

3 Things We Learned From The Game

  1. Max Dowman's star quality shines through - Despite his age, Dowman looked comfortable at senior level, constantly beating his fullback and creating dangerous situations down the left flan
  2. Timber.. I will go as far to say Timber at this moment is one of the top 2 right backs in world football. To have a season out and come back like this for almost 2 seasons now is unreal.
  3. Squad depth proving crucial for title push - Arteta made 10 changes from the previous game yet still secured a clean sheet victory. The performance highlighted how Arsenal's improved squad depth could be the difference in a congested season, with fringe players stepping up when called upon
